About Expost

Our Story

Expost was established as The Post House in Yorkshire in 1999 to provide a simple but invaluable service to small businesses, expats and anyone else who needs a secure UK address other than that of their residence.

We understood that people wanted a less expensive and more discreet alternative to Royal Mail’s PO Box service. Our ingeniously simple solution was to use real street addresses so there is no need for anyone to know they are not our clients’ physical address. We could then forward their mail on to their residence or process it on their behalf.

We steadily built up a loyal clientele, and given the virtual nature of our business, we were able to relocate to Pembrokeshire in 2011 with no disruption to our service. We then rebranded and reincorporated as Expost Holdings Ltd in 2015, also trading as expatpost, canalpost and vanpost, and registered in the UK (Co. Reg: 9602070 ICO Reg: ZA196249).

In addition to our head office in Pembrokeshire, we now have eight other locations around the UK and Eire, so our clients can choose the nation or region that best suits their needs. The ability to have an address in Northern Ireland or Eire has proven to be especially useful in the wake of Brexit, since the former is effectively still part of the single market (and exempt from EU custom checks and tariffs) while the latter remains in the EU itself.

The Covid-19 pandemic of 2020 also had a major impact on business, as more and more people began working from home, and many small companies took the opportunity to save costs by abandoning physical office premises altogether. Expost allows them to maintain a separate address for business purposes, and while we continue to forward mail and parcels as required, in many cases we simply scan correspondence so they can view it online, before shredding and recycling the originals. This allows our clients to reduce their carbon footprint even as they enjoy the convenience of having their mail managed remotely.

We now have more than 20 years’ experience managing our clients’ mail and parcels, and our service has evolved to meet their evolving needs and expectations. One thing that has not changed is our commitment to providing a friendly and efficient service that delivers value for money – as well as the mail!
